World of Warcraft's achievements system will launch with more than 500 individual achievements covering every aspect of gameplay, including world exploration, PvE, PvP, professions, and character development; from the purely whimsical to the truly epic, there will be something for everyone. Some achievements come with in-game rewards such as tabards, vanity pets, and titles. All of these rewards are purely cosmetic and just for fun, but you'll certainly stand out when you proudly display them.

Sounds alot like the gw title and HoM system dunnit?

Not another game succumbing to the achievement farmers... I blame Microsoft.

Okay, I'm going to try to not rip you apart for this, I'm going to really really try, because people who say something invented something without having any RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOING IDEA piss me off royally.
FIRST OFF:
GUILD WARS DIDN'T INVENT TITLES. They are a current generation feature, that was done first on the X-Box 360 this generation, but has been a feature in games before it.
SECOND OFF:
WORLD OF WARCRAFT IS JUST UPDATING TO MEET THE CURRENT GENERATION SPECS. It is becoming more current-gen. It is updating the graphics engine a bit. It is adding nex-gen features like achivements.
THIRD OFF:
WOW SOME OF THE TITLES ARE THE SAME??? Yeah because Guild Wars obviously invented the idea of exploring the map. NO.
FOURTH OFF:
THE NEXT TIME I SEE SOMEONE DO THIS I AM GOING TO FLIP OUT. It's dumb and uneducated. (Okay, not really, but still >: ( )
That was me not ripping you apart. (bet you want to see what me ripping you apart looks like, eh? :P)
ps: i'm not actually angry and if anyone took this as me seriously angry then lol @ you.

Actually, this brings me to another thing. They already HAVE titles. Hated, Unfriendly, Neutral, Friendly, Honoured, Revered, Exalted. Isn't THAT enough of a grind for them?

They already have titles for doing stuff in-game too. (ie: being top 5% in the Arena teams on your server gives you a Gladiator title next to your name, killing a raid boss and being exalted with a faction gives you a title, etc.)
This is nothing new except for people who don't know anything about the game.
And it's still not "copied from Guild Wars". You'd have to be pretty uninformed to think Guild Wars came up with the concept of the title system.

This came up a while ago in Off Topic as well. We had a laugh, discussed titles, decieded that GW didn't have them first. All was well.

That's because I updated it and don't care about GWO as much to get on there. Check Community Works. I'll be updating it later (soon(TM)).
I hate bad, uneducated, and ignorant posts/topics. :P
Everyone gives credit to the wrong shit. The GW2 topics are awful and I have to take my head and forcefully pound it against my keyboard 50 times until I get knocked out and have amnesia so I forget I ever went into it. If I don't do this the resulting posts would blow up the forums. I have never seen such stupidity in my life. In one of the early topics someone said it was becoming WoW because they added jumping and swimming.
Because WoW totally invented jumping and swimming.

Yeah, because Guild Wars invented the achievements, right?
Right?

People have been comparing GW to WoW since the day it came out.
Its only natural that then WoW adds something that we have already seen in GW people are going to start to shout "OMG WoW is copping GW!"
There is not much in EITHER game that has not existed in some form or another in a previous game.

Obvuoisly, Blizzard understand that WoW is dying (Yes!! it's true)
By making all this grind material, it gives people something to do and makes them more attached to their character. Its a very smart move, considering Grind of conan has the potential to be an actually decent game, it just needs updates as its in early stages.
Now when warhammer online comes out, i bet 40% of the WoW community will migrate to that.
Waiting on Warhammer
Its about survival, adding grind and achievements makes people want to do things instead of just powerlevlling then raiding the same dragon every night
Guild wars did this from the start as they knew after getting to level 20, then Doing FoW PvE was pretty much over back when only prophecies existed.

Sounds like a slightly better system than GW though.
CoH had the same thing with the badge system.
The more easily accessible titles you have the less people care about them.

Actually, it isn't. H:GL has recently been hit hard with its developing company crashing a bit, and AoC's developers took an inflated number to make their game look better so more people would buy it, tons of people are unsubscribing cause it is a buggy mess, etc.
WoW's subscription number actually went up over the past month. It has yet to go down.
So uh...tell me...it's dying how again?

Very doubtful. I've played it. It is like WoW in every way, except in the Warhammer universe, even more grindy (they actually have a quest to kill 100 of something. No joke.), and worse in every way compared to WoW.
If they want to not face the same fate as AoC, they are going to need to rework that pos game HARD.
And by hard I mean they need to either redo every facet of it, or something, because every facet of WHO needs need to be improved by at least 100 fold to be something even remotely decent.
What makes taking an MMO down hard isn't necessarily the fact that people get attached to their characters (tho that is part of it), but the fact that after 5+ years when you get a good MMO like WoW (largest subscribers to an MMO ever, and it is only going up) going, all its competitors that would take subscribers away (and I mean away, not people who pay for it and play another subscription game) have to be stable. Something AoC isn't, and WHO isn't (atm). Because after 5+ years, WoW is very stable, has an assload of content, etc.
You need to be able to stand on your own two feet at launch, something most MMO's (AoC, Vanguard, Rome Online, Fury....I could go on.) fail at.
EDIT:
Though it's something GW2 will probably do, since GW1 did it so damn well.
